QR code
Turn a link, some text or Wi-Fi credentials into a QR code you can scan straight off the screen.
Byte mode, UTF-8. Level M rebuilds the payload with up to ~15% of the symbol damaged, and the mask is the lowest-penalty of the eight. Keep the light border when you place it: scanners need that quiet zone.
The common case is getting something from this machine onto a phone without emailing it to yourself: a staging URL, a long link, the Wi-Fi password for a guest. A code on screen is faster than any of the alternatives.
The code is generated locally with a choice of error-correction level and can be saved as PNG or SVG. Nothing is uploaded, which is the point when the payload is a password.
What people open it for
- Opening a local or staging URL on a phone for testing
- Sharing Wi-Fi credentials without reading them out
- Generating a scannable code for a slide or a printed page
