Chat

The status bar shows how many people are here; the chat is where you can talk to them. Rooms are made by joining them — #chanceos is always open — nicks are first-come-first-kept for the session, and the server holds only the last fifty lines of a room in memory: restart the server and the past is gone, which is the point.

It runs on the site's own small WebSocket hub with origin checks, rate limits and message caps, and the client reconnects by itself and re-joins your rooms after a blip. Nothing about the conversation is stored on disk, anywhere.
